Xmas was enjoyable this year. Food, relaxation and a dip in the pool. Awesome presents and the best gift of all just around the corner, holidays.

We leave for Singapore in 2 days, then on to Hanoi.

Despite not enjoying all farm life had to offer, the house wasn’t a sticky closed little box and, it opened out onto this.

I will be sad to leave, but Christmas must be had something, and here is definitely not the place. Next stop, Brisbane.

When I was young it was said that I didn’t live on a farm, I lived in a house which happened to be on a farm, so little was my engagement with the actuality of farming. Now, this isn’t true, though I wasn’t sent out to the fields to work, I most definitely lived on a farm.
It was so green and lush, something that I miss, often without ever even knowing that I miss it.

Home has always been a bit of an interesting place. Packed with the interesting, the scavenged, the absurd and spiked through with treasures.

Most of these items were Mum’s, and they seemed normal to me. To come home from school and see our sitting room crowded with a gaggle of manequins missing limbs and eyes was routine. So, now Mum has gone, to find the treasures drawers and cupboards must be searched through. But it is still there.

Talking about camera’s, Dad brought out his old, delicious, camera gear. His old medium format minolta, Canon cameras from the 1960’s onwards and amazing retouching paraphernalia.

The Beginning

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

So after a full on and exciting year, it is finally time for a holiday. It starts at 5am Saturday, after my last day at work. Wake up early, turn off the fridge, catch a cab through the still peaceful streets to the airport that never seems to sleep. A quick, packed and scary flight to Ballina in a tiny plane and suddenly my holiday has started.

The first week is split between the farm and Brisbane, then off to Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia.
